This morning we attended what will be the first of many Breakfast Club events. The Gippsland Car Club Sporting Register held its inaugural Breakfast Club event right here in Warragul. About 20 cars and a couple of bikes turned out at 8.00am, with more arriving later than the scheduled 9.00am finish.
It might sound ambitious, but the event is styled upon the Goodwood Breakfast Club and the Coffee and Cars event in SoCal. The aim is to get those with a passion for motor vehicles together once a month. If this morning’s Breakfast Club was anything to go by, we’re on a winner! This will be an open invitation event, no bookings required – just bring your special vehicle along and enjoy the morning.
Mike and I arrived just after 8.00am and parked the Gregory “special” alongside a BMW M3, a Fiat 124, a 911 3.2 Carrera, a magnificent D Type replica, a 944 S2 Cab and a Boxster S. Then the others started to arrive…an E49 Charger, a fair-dinkum Bathurst homolgated XC 351 Cobra, an XW GT (think it’s a HO), an XR GT, a supercharged 6 cylinder Bugatti (!) plus the most amazing Cadillac LaSalle – a V16 no less! Now I am no Caddy girl, but this LaSalle was amazing…then there was an E Type, a couple of hotrods, a couple of bikes, a very sweet FJ Holden and on it went.
A lot of the guys went on afterwards to other events in the area. The GCC guys were heading to Maffra for the Italian Car show, the bike guys were heading around the corner to the Courthouse for more coffee before heading out on a ride; there is always a stack of Club events happening down here – choosing which to do is the difficult part!
Great stuff – roll on May Breakfast Club – next one is Sunday May 11 at 8.00am. Yes, I know it’s Mothers Day…but this Mum will be there! The kids can shout me breakfast…
Great coverage Lisa – it never ceases to amaze me the number and variety of amazing cars that are in our own backyard. Congratulations to Glenn for bring his concept to fruition. Roll on Mothers’ Day.

Too right Steve! I am thrilled by the variety of cars and bikes that come out to play down here. There is always something “new” to see. Accolades to Glenn for his “vision” and the hard work to get a new event up and running. Roll on Mothers’ day indeed!
