RIP Lisa Jacobson (Gregory)

For those of you who have not known Lisa has had breast cancer which had spread to her lymph glands and liver.

She went to the Doctor 5 weeks ago. As a result was diagnosed with breast cancer.
Since then, she underwent many tests, biopsies, scans and x-rays. It was only 2 weeks ago she was informed of the full extent of her illness.
From that time she had visited the oncologist John Scarlett only once, prior to her first Chemo session which was last Friday 21-10-11.
She had the Chemo treatment, and was doing ok from Friday to Sunday morning. During Sunday morning she had been sleepy and had been
napping (not unusual for chemo)
Out of the blue she started to get vague and even more fatigued. At this point I rang the Traralgon hospital, where she had the Chemo, an Ambulance was organized to take her to Warragul Hospital. The hospital staff stabilized her and after 6 hours arranged Ambulance transfer to Monash Hospital in Clayton. Once at Monash she was admitted to the emergency department, until being transferred to her own room. Tuesday afternoon was when she became semi-conscious, and never improved from that. This is where she stayed progressively getting worse until Wednesday morning at about 11.00 a.m. when the decision was made to remove the drip and oxygen tubes.
Late Wednesday afternoon she was transferred to the Palliative care McCullough House. It was approximately 3 hours later she quietly and peacefully slipped away to join John and Jean at 7.40 p.m.

This mailing list was supposed to be for a periodical update on her fight with this horrible disease. Unfortunately it will only be a single edition
Thanks must go to the caring staff of both Warragul and Monash Hospitals also McCullough House.

Lisa’s funeral will be held on Wednesday 2nd of November at 11.00 a.m. The Church is St Anthony’s Shrine at 182 Power st Hawthorn.
We would appreciate if people would wear a pink item of clothing in support of Breast Cancer research. Rather than send or bring flowers, please donate that money to breast cancer research through the McGrath foundation.

Rest in Peace Lisa

Well yesterday was our first month without Lisa.
What a month it has been with so much to do, so many changes and so much to learn!
The kids have been fantastic, very strong and particularly Charlie and Billy they have behaved, well beyond their years. Tom, well Billy described him today to a friend of ours, as being like an uncle!! Tom seriously has at times taken the role as a guardian. This has been very refreshing to see and almost a surprise.
Me, well, I have had a very interesting time searching for, and, in the main discovering most of the required usernames and passwords for a variety of things computer related. Learning how to use MYOB, thanks, to Caroline and Raelene. Working out how to use this Blog. Along with many other things, trying to get some work done and running around with and for the kids.
We are coping quite well and will get better as time goes on and we sort ourselves out more each day and week.
Charlotte is off on school camp this week so that will be good for her!

    I have never blogged before….

I went to school with Lisa at Sacre Coeur.I am so sorry that we didn’t hear of Lisa passing until after the funeral.I would have loved to be there to show how dearly remembered she was from school days.A beautiful, fun girl , not afraid to show her passions and individuality.

I am so sorry for you loss. She is also joining another school mate,Penny Ryan (Gallagher) who also passed away from cancer, this year.

My sympathies to you and your beautiful kids

As another Sacre Coeur girl, I also share the memories that Kate and Dani mentioned. I was devastated hearing of Greggo’s passing, and feel so sorry for her husband and children. Mike, she is with her parents now, and as you stated, you will continue sorting yourselves out more each day and week.

If there is anything that I can do to help you, please let me know!

Cancer is an insidious disease, and I am so proud of Greggo for having raised awareness of cancer prior to her diagnosis.

    Love to you all,

    Sally-Anne Macdonald (McCormack)

I’m shocked and saddened by this news. I sold Lisa my BMW E9 3.0cs and she was a lady with such energy and vision.
My thoughts are with Mike and the children.

Well it has been 2 months now and we have all had our difficult times as you can imagine. The kids have been fantastic and in the main, very strong, Christmas day was the toughest. This was to be expected though. Charlotte and Tom were a bit teary for a while but nothing too much! As the day wore on we all got better with all socialising of the day, and the many phone calls received.
      Thank you to everyone!

Tomorrow Sunday the 26th February is 4 months since Lisa pssed away.
We are still here and going well, Tom has been seriously looking for another job and could well have one in Melbourne, Charlotte is working part time, and Billy is our apprentice Chef at home. He is very much enjoying cooking and has learnt a lot from Tom! Me, I am having my days, but there is still much to be done and the interuptions continue with having to sort out this or that for Lisa. I am sure it will all come to an end sooner rather than later and we can just get on with our lives.
Bottom line is though we are still all ok and getting on with our lives as well as we can!

Lisa was a friend of my older sister, Lynnette. I met Lisa briefly on a few occasions. I don’t remember many of my sisters friends but Lisa was kind, huge smile and always appeared happy! My own love of cars turned me to the idea of restoring a Porsche this week (Feb 2022). What else does one do in lock down. My thoughts turned to Lisa (and Spyder Auto) to possibly seek some advice. Its probably been 30-years! I wish Lisa’s family a long and happy life 🙂
