Prudent judgement prevailed and we left the 911 in the garage for the weekend; taking instead the ‘67 Chevy Malibu! Great fun to cruise in and no slouch; with room to take all we wanted. So early Saturday morning we headed back to the airport as the Lit and Toy Show was held at the LA Airport Hilton.

I caught up with a lot of people and met a whole host of new ones; sold a lot of stuff and had a great time to boot. By midday I had packed up my table and walked around what was left at the other vendors. As much as I was tempted, I did not buy a thing – I wanted to come home lighter in luggage than I went!

We then cruised down south into Orange County to Javier’s Cantina in Newport Beach and caught up with more of the Early 911S Registry guys; coming from as far away as Atlanta for the weekend (hi Ed – good to see I am not the only crazy one). A quick trip to our hotel to check in and for me to pull on the only “going out accessory” I had brought with me (a pair of ridiculously high heeled but very funky boots) and then off to the open house affair at the new home of European Collectibles in Costa Mesa.  A great facility; lots of interesting projects on display and wonderful hospitality – thanks guys!

Then the five of us (Chuck, Chris, Lars, Mona and me) headed off out for dinner, along with another four Porschephiles from New Mexico. Got a call from Randy when we arrived and he joined us too. Great night at Monahan’s Steak House and Irish Pub, walking distance from our hotel so we all ate, drank and were merry!

We were all looking forward to Sunday and the all Porsche Swap Meet and Car Display…this year held in Costa Mesa in the carpark adjacent to Auto Kennel.
